If you're a drinker, the night before the tattoo is not the best time to overdo it.
Start hydrating the night before, make sure you get plenty of rest the morning of.
Have a nice square meal at least a couple hours prior to the appointment.
Bring snacks and water.
Please make sure your hygiene is in order considering your closeness to the artist for an extended period of time.

Leave the bandage on for at least a couple of hours. Once you take it off, gently wash the tattoo with warm water and an antimicrobial or antibacterial soap. When clean, keep it dry for the rest of that night.
After a couple days of keeping it clean and dry, start using a moisturizer. We recommend Aveeno lotion non-additive. If you want to use a medicated ointment use Aquaphor (a little goes a long way and you should only use that for a couple days then switch to a good non-additive lotion for the duration of the healing process).
Stay out of the sun and do not submerge your tattoo in any water for at least 2 weeks.
If you have animals, protect the tattoo from being accidentally scratched or licked.

YOU'RE GONNA DIE!
Just kidding, this is totally normal and part of the healing process. The outer layer of the skin is renewing and healing itself, thus peeling the old layer away. Itching can also happen during healing.
Do not assist in the peeling!
Do not itch your tattoo!
Itching could cause serious damage, an infection, or even ruin a fresh tattoo.
